In Support of Caitanya dasa Brahmacari, and Exposing the Atheism of Feminism

Let this Bhagavad-gita Culture be Maintained in Pure Form
BY: PANDU DASA

May 17, STATE COLLEGE, PENNSYLVANIA, USA (SUN) — Dear Mother Lalita Madhava, Hare Krishna. Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Thank you very much for stopping by my blog and commenting. I don't know of any time that Caitanya prabhu had ever criticized you personally, but you personally attacked him and his guru, hence my direct response to your open letter. I'm pleased to hear of your attraction to motherhood and protection of the life of unborn children, and not at all surprised. Of course you must know that those values are not exactly consistent with the feminist movement in America.
The feminist attitude, according to my observation, was the target of criticism by Caitanya prabhu following Srila Prabhupada's example. I have been reading Caitanya’s Hare Krishna diary for a few months, and although I have not read every word, I've read enough to get a feel for his perspective; and I've seen nothing criticizing women in general. What I've seen is that he has condemned behaviors that interfere with the development of Krishna consciousness, behaviors that contradict the values that Srila Prabhupada taught.
I’m sure his views could be expressed more tactfully, but as you mentioned, he’s relatively new at this. You also could have responded to his writing in a far more constructive manner. I’m a little surprised that you would address a sannyasi so disrespectfully. I thought proper Vaisnava etiquette means respecting even a mayavadi sannyasi, what to speak of a Vaishnava guru and direct disciple of Srila Prabhupada. If we know better, we should try to set an example.
In addition to Caitanya prabhu being a relatively new devotee, and he is also a brahmacari, which I find very respectable. He is trying to sacrifice sex life for Krishna, which is very great tapasya. I can hardly comprehend it. Although I never had brahmacari training, I know it must take very strong discipline to counteract the lower modes of nature this way. Generally maya comes in the form of women for men, and in the form of men for women. In pursuing Krishna consciousness in the brahmacari ashram, he must always be on guard against any attempt for maya to find its way into his mind, and as much as it is already in there, he has to push it out. This takes a herculean effort, and in this endeavor it helps to continuously remind oneself of the dangers of associating with women, especially women who do not respect brahmacarya.
Srila Prabhupada made much criticism of the modern trend of blurring the distinctions between men and women and encouraging their intermingling. I don't think anyone can deny that, and it appears to me that Caitanya is doing his best to follow in his footsteps. Again, Caitanya is a relatively new devotee, so one should not expect him to be extremely expert in expressing such revolutionary views very tastefully.
It is very good to know the philosophy but a much greater challenge to be able to present it both purely and sweetly, because the sinful behaviors of those to whom we would preach are condemned. I have not mastered it either, by a long shot. Often Srila Prabhupada was quite forceful in his presentation, but due to his outstanding purity as Krishna’s devotee and perfect command of the philosophy, he could call a person a rascal and the person would often accept it or even agree. I could say the same thing to the same person, but with almost no potency to get the person to accept. If we are sincere devotees, we have to accept the truth from a new devotee just as we seek the same truth from Srila Prabhupada. Gold from a filthy place. Not that I say his blog is filthy -- actually I appreciate it; but I think you have used similar words to that effect. I have written to ask him to rely more heavily on direct quotes from Srila Prabhupada to make his points, and he's responded that another devotee gave the same suggestion, and that he would take it to heart. I see he has begun this with his recent posts.
I mentioned above that I do not know him personally, and for the record, neither have I met you. I saw your support of the annotations resolution, and I am so against these that I may not be able to accept the authority of the GBC if it happens, and thus I will leave ISKCON if necessary, with much sadness probably for the rest of my life if it comes to that. So your writing lately has been a threat to my spiritual life, and I am very upset about that. Who dares write their own views in Srila Prabhupada's books?!
I am also somewhat indebted to Caitanya prabhu. I presume that your recent visit to my blog was your first. If you read from the beginning, you will see that I had a very traumatic period shortly after I began writing. An unrepentant child molester was invited to my community, Gita-nagari, by Bhakti-Tirtha Swami, and I objected. As a result I was threatened and then condemned so harshly that I thought I must be a demon, and so I left the Hare Krishna movement entirely, suffering deeply every minute of every day because of it. I expect that you would have a lot of respect for Bhakti-Tirtha Swami, but in fact his friendship, approval, and glorification of this child abuser practically destroyed my spiritual life. In this pitiable position, practically no one would come to my aid for more than a year. That was when I found the Hare Krishna Diary, and I wrote to Caitanya prabhu, who was Bhakta Corey at the time, and he helped me by putting me in touch with a nice senior devotee who helped me work through what happened so that I could be at peace with this movement again. So actually I think I am quite in debt to Caitanya prabhu. Who knows where I would be if he had not cared enough to help me? I wrote to him because I saw in his diary a dedication to the strict teachings of Krishna consciousness, and that is what attracts me even though I am a poor follower. His may be not the most experienced understanding, but it’s an attempt to closely replicate Srila Prabhupada's mood of declaring war on maya. A new devotee who can do this deserves my respect.
I am giving you a stream of consciousness writing here, and I hope it is acceptable to you. We are not enemies within the Krishna consciousness movement, or at least we should not be. But from my point of view, Caitanya prabhu is preaching in Srila Prabhupada's line with little to no deviation, whereas what I've seen of your writing seems to be mixing spiritual and material values, which in my view severely weakens the purity of Srila Prabhupada's movement. What are we without purity? If you continue to read the Hare Krishna diary now that he is providing quotes and references, I think with your recent attitude you would have to say that Srila Prabhupada is wrong on many points, that he is offensive, and such things. That, in my humble opinion, is incredibly dangerous for not only your spiritual life, but also those who hear such blaspheme of Krishna's pure devotee. I refuse to hear it, except to defeat it; but it’s difficult when Dandavats and Chakra rely on so heavily on ideological censorship to silence arguments that contradict their propaganda. Is that what you consider inclusiveness?
If you're at all inclined, I hope we can discuss more. I do not censor comments to my blog, except to block spam and on rare occasions vulgarity. Please consider that with your push for so-called 'inclusiveness' at the expense of Srila Prabhupada’s unadulterated teachings, you will be driving out those who are very attached to Srila Prabhupada's teachings in their pure form. I very much want everyone to become Krishna conscious, but I don’t make the rules for how it can be done. Srila Prabhupada himself has explained that while Krishna consciousness is available for everyone, it is not for those who refuse to accept it. Rather it is effective for persons who want to take the process 'in pure form':
"They are all fools, rascals. They cannot take. All the duskrtino mudhah prapadyante naradhamah. That is already described. Naradhamas will not take to Krsna consciousness. But there are persons who are not naradhama. For them there must be. Diamond shop is not for everyone, but there are some persons who can purchase diamonds. Manusyanam sahasresu [Bg. 7.3]. It is not meant for everyone. So this is India's culture. At least, these men should be conscientious that "Let this Bhagavad-gita culture be maintained in pure form.""
Srila Prabhupada's Room Conversation, April 5, 1977, Bombay
Thank you again for your association, and please just take Srila Prabhupada’s teaching as it is. Hare Krishna.
Sincerely, your servant,
Pandu das

For Those So-called Devotees Who Disparage the Teachings of HDG Srila Prabhupada and His Disciples and Grand-disciples, A Fair Warning Is In Order

All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Please accept my humble obeisances. Hare krsna.

Recently, there have been articles of dubious merit but of singular purpose (to poison, contaminate and discourage the minds of serious-minded, enthusiastic and dedicated--what the so-called devotees, like Lalita Madhava and Bhakta Eric of the greivously offensive website thehing.com, would insidiously label "ultra-conservative", "fanatical", "kool-aid drinkers" and, appalling as it may sound, even "brainwashed"--followes of Srila Prabhupada) posted to websites, like Chakra.org and Sampradaya Sun, of equally dubious merit and credentials, created and edited , for the most part, by envious, disgruntled, former ISKCON devotees--both Srila Prabhupada disciples and his grand-disciples or , worse even, former Prabhupada disciples (imagine the aparadha involved there) who have taken re-initation by Prabhupada's godbrothers and disciples of godbrothers (Prabhupada warned his followers time and again of the consequences of even reading the books of these individuals what to speak of associating with them in such intimate and unauthorized ways)--who have long since lost the sincere sadhaka's taste for strictly following the regulative principles of krsna conscious, rising early at 4 AM everyday for mangala aratrika, carefully and offenselessly chanting 16 rounds of the hare krsna maha-mantra, executing devotional service, associating with and humbly serving like-minded devotees and performing harinama sankirtana and brhad mrdangam. Due to the offenses--mad elephant and others of a lesser degree but nonetheless detrimental to a devotee's delicate devotional creeper--commited by these unfortunate former devotees, they are now claiming to find, and in many instances even manufacturing, faults and errors (which are in actuality and reality non-existent and imagined by these so-called devotees, and offered up to unsuspecting and innocent readers just to introduce hidden agenda-laden ulterior motives such as feminism, New Age atheism and other such mental speculation and sense gratification) with Srila Prabhupada and his books and teachings, which in and of itself is a terribly egregious form of vaisnava aparadha.
Let Srila Prabhupada--from Chapter 6 of Sri Upadesamrta--have the first and last word on this matter of utmost importance and urgency:

If we consider the bodily defects of a Vaisnava, we should understand that we are committing an offense at the lotus feet of the Vaisnava. An offense at the lotus feet of a Vaisnava is very serious. Indeed, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu has described this offense as hātī-mātā, the mad elephant offense. A mad elephant can create a disaster, especially when it enters into a nicely trimmed garden. One should therefore be very careful not to commit any offense against a Vaisnava. Every devotee should be ready to take instructions from a superior Vaisnava, and a superior Vaisnava must be ready to help an inferior Vaisnava in all respects. One is superior or inferior according to his spiritual development in Krsna consciousness. One is forbidden to observe the activities of a pure Vaisnava from a material point of view. For the neophyte especially, considering a pure devotee from a material point of view is very injurious. One should therefore avoid observing a pure devotee externally, but should try to see the internal features and understand how he is engaged in the transcendental loving service of the Lord. In this way one can avoid seeing the pure devotee from a material point of view, and thus one can gradually become a purified devotee himself.
Those who think that Krsna consciousness is limited to a certain section of people, a certain section of devotees or a certain tract of land are generally prone to see the external features of the devotee. Such neophytes, unable to appreciate the exalted service of the advanced devotee, try to bring the mahā-bhāgavata to their platform. We experience such difficulty in propagating this Krsna consciousness all over the world. Unfortunately we are surrounded by neophyte Godbrothers who do not appreciate the extraordinary activities of spreading Krsna consciousness all over the world. They simply try to bring us to their platform, and they try to criticize us in every respect. We very much regret their naive activities and poor fund of knowledge. An empowered person who is actually engaged in the confidential service of the Lord should not be treated as an ordinary human being, for it is stated that unless one is empowered by Krsna, one cannot spread the Krsna consciousness movement all over the world.
When one thus criticizes a pure devotee, he commits an offense (vaisnava-aparādha) that is very obstructive and dangerous for those who desire to advance in Krsna consciousness. A person cannot derive any spiritual benefit when he offends the lotus feet of a Vaisnava. Everyone should therefore be very careful not to be jealous of an empowered Vaisnava, or a śuddha-vaisnava. It is also an offense to consider an empowered Vaisnava an object of disciplinary action. It is offensive to try to give him advice or to correct him. One can distinguish between a neophyte Vaisnava and an advanced Vaisnava by their activities. The advanced Vaisnava is always situated as the spiritual master, and the neophyte is always considered his disciple. The spiritual master must not be subjected to the advice of a disciple, nor should a spiritual master be obliged to take instructions from those who are not his disciples. This is the sum and substance of Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī's advice in the sixth verse.

The offenses against the chanting of the holy name are as follows: (1) To blaspheme the devotees who have dedicated their lives for propagating the holy name of the Lord. (2) To consider the names of demigods like Lord Śiva or Lord Brahmā to be equal to, or independent of, the name of Lord Visnu. (Sometimes the atheistic class of men take it that any demigod is as good as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Visnu. But one who is a devotee knows that no demigod, however great he may be, is independently as good as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Therefore, if someone thinks that he can chant "Kālī, Kālī!" or "Durgā, Durgā!"and it is the same as Hare Krsna, that is the greatest offense.) (3) To disobey the orders of the spiritual master. (4) To blaspheme the Vedic literature or literature in pursuance of the Vedic version. (5) To consider the glories of chanting Hare Krsna to be imagination. (6) To give some interpretation on the holy name of the Lord. (7) To commit sinful activities on the strength of the holy name of the Lord. (It should not be taken that because by chanting the holy name of the Lord one can be freed from all kinds of sinful reaction, one may continue to act sinfully and after that chant Hare Krsna to neutralize his sins. Such a dangerous mentality is very offensive and should be avoided.) (8) To consider the chanting of Hare Krsna one of the auspicious ritualistic activities offered in the Vedas as fruitive activities (karma-kānda). (9) To instruct a faithless person about the glories of the holy name. (Anyone can take part in chanting the holy name of the Lord, but in the beginning one should not be instructed about the transcendental potency of the Lord. Those who are too sinful cannot appreciate the transcendental glories of the Lord, and therefore it is better not to instruct them in this matter.) (10) To not have complete faith in the chanting of the holy names and to maintain material attachments, even after understanding so many instructions on this matter.
Every devotee who claims to be a Vaisnava must guard against these offenses in order to quickly achieve the desired success

All glories to Srila Prabhupada, HH Bhaktivakasa Swami and Caitanya dasa brahmacari.Say No to Demonic Feminism.True Equality is Spiritual NOT Material

Recently a very sincere and determined ISKCON devotee named Caitanya dasa brahmacari---who has enthusiastially and positively represented and delineated, without adulteration and personal interpretation and despite demonic intimidation, the message and teachings of AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada and the entire parampara in his internet blog writings, known as the Hare Krishna Diary---has come under severe, unwarranted, unprovoked and egregiously offensive attack by a few envious so-called Hare Krsna devotees who disguise themselves as such just to pass off on an unsuspecting and uninformed public and audience ideas, ideologies, philosophies (such as feminism and other mundane pursuits aimed at only improving the animal tendencies of eating, sleeping, mating and defending) contrary to true Krsna consciousness and which ISKCON founder-acarya Srila Prabhupada has publicly, in his published writings, lectures, conversations and elsewhere, taught to be spiritually fraudulent and bankrupt and dangerously misleading...in fact pathways to hell as he would explain it. These types of people--so-called devotees--are sahajiyas, mayavadis and, in general, gross materialists addicted to bodily consciousness and who consider the strict regulative principle of Krsna consciousness old-fashioned, religious fundamentalism, sexist, fanaticism, basically code-words meant to demean, belittle and de-value the true followers of Krsna consciousness. It is Vaisnava aparadha at its fundamental--pun fully intended--worst. It is important to note, though, that, despite the bullying and barking of a few "caravan-intimidating" dogs, support for Caitanya dasa's Hare Krishna Diary blog has been overwhelmingly positive and well-received by devotees; it is the so-called devotees with their hidden agendas and ulterior motives---subtly, sometimes even grossly, promoting illicit sex life and other forms of sense gratification and mental speculation---who feel threatened by the purity of Caitanya dasa's preaching. Caitanya dasa isn't the first Prabhupadanuga to raise the demonic ire---and become the object of poisonous envy---of non-devotees and so-called devotees alike, and he won't be the last. Such is the austerity a Vaisnava must undergo and personal sacrifice he must make to disseminate and propogate the teachings of Krsna consciousness. Here are some excerpts--that need NO annotations or interpretations--- from Srila Prabhupada's transcendental books, whose contents destroy these miscreants' and rascals' delusions and misunderstandings. From Bhagavad gita As It Is Chapter 1, Text 40
TEXT 40
adharmabhibhavat krsna
pradusyanti kula-striya
hstrisu dustasu varsneya
jayate varna-sankarah

SYNONYMS adharma--irreligion; abhibhavat--having become predominant; krsna--O Krsna; pradusyanti--become polluted; kula-striyah--family ladies; strisu--of the womanhood; dustasu--being so polluted; varsneya--O descendant of Vrsni; jayate--it so becomes; varna-sankarah--unwanted progeny.

TRANSLATION When irreligion is prominent in the family, O Krsna, the women of the family become corrupt, and from the degradation of womanhood, O descendant of Vrsni, comes unwanted progeny.

PURPORT: Good population in human society is the basic principle for peace, prosperity and spiritual progress in life. The varnasrama religion's principles were so designed that the good population would prevail in society for the general spiritual progress of state and community. Such population depends on the chastity and faithfulness of its womanhood. As children are very prone to be misled, women are similarly very prone to degradation. Therefore, both children and women require protection by the elder members of the family. By being engaged in various religious practices, women will not be misled into adultery. According to Canakya Pandita, women are generally not very intelligent and therefore not trustworthy. So, the different family traditions of religious activities should always engage them, and thus their chastity and devotion will give birth to a good population eligible for participating in the varnasrama system. On the failure of such varnasrama-dharma, naturally the women become free to act and mix with men, and thus adultery is indulged in at the risk of unwanted population. Irresponsible men also provoke adultery in society, and thus unwanted children flood the human race at the risk of war and pestilence.

In closing I would like to add that recently many of these so-called devotees are complaining that the devotees in ISKCON will turn away people who are sincerely interested in Krsna consciousness unless Srila Prabhupada's teachings are watered down. These so-called devotees are complaining that ISKCON devotees shouldn't preach certain so-called unsavory or unfavorable aspects of Krsna consciousness for fear of preventing or discouraging a conditioned soul from accepting Krsna consciousness. What nonsense ! Utter rubbish and arrogant deceit ! Srila Prabhupada often compared the priceless teachings of this great Krsna consciousness movement to a diamond and precious stone jeweler...in that not everyone will abandon their nonsense ways and surrender to Krsna, just as many people cannot afford real diamonds and will settle for less and an inferior product so that they may continue with sinful activity and at the same time practice a false and concocted form of spirituality as though it is the genuine article. Such is the charade of the cheater and the cheated...ISKCON is the genuine article...the real deal, as it were, and it must not be watered down, diluted and cheapened to attract thousands upon thousands of mudhas and miscreants the way the countless other fake, bogus and manufactured so-called yoga movements are being mass marketed...better ISKCON keep its preaching pure and unadulterated by serpent and maya philosophies, and attract a few good men and women, who will take Krsna consciousness seriously and not frivolously. Leave the cheating to the cheaters and the cheated.
Thank you and hare krsna .

Arjuna dasa
